Anybody else frustrated every time Zibi makes an attempt at a clearance kick ?

Time and time again he miskicks the ball completely. A wee bit o' practice in training is required from the big fella.

Agree. Sometimes passbacks can be difficult to deal with if the ball is spinning or bouncing but he fecks it up about 90% of the time and if that isn't bad enough his goal kicks and kickout from his hands are even worse, he has the whole width of the pitch to aim for and still manages to put it out of play

He is a good shot stopper but that is his job, it is everything else he does that worries me

Clearance Kicks as well as Kicking from hand, Cross balls, positional sense at set pieces, communication with defenders and decision making! apart from that he's OK

Everything that huddie does frustrates me. I reckon between Zibbi and Caldwell they have cost us around 20 points this season

Daniel Andersson had horrendous kicking aswell....christ when will we get a keeper who is a good shot stopper, kicks well, commands his area, communicates etc. etc.

are they really that hard to find

anyone see the save zibi made from a long range shot its was the best save a had ever seen, the shot looked like it could have broken the net if it had gone in.

I see TM going absolutely mental every time Zibby fails to keep the ball in play from an elementary kick out but he sticks by him presumably for shot stopping ability which isnt so bad

how about we take a chance on andy mcneil for the last game of the season. he is young, but looks a great keeper and i canny wait until he gets a game.

also most of the time, sibi gets bad pass backs when hes under pressure, but lets get andy

Aye! That's the problem.

Even if you look at the top, top clubs, their keepers aren't always sound in all of those areas. Jens Lehman, for example, sold a few goals at Arsenal last season through kicking the ball straight to opposing players, Fabien Barthez (A World Cup winner!) committed innumerable howlers while at Man U, and even the great Peter Schmeichel had the odd kicking malfunction from time to time.

If we look at kicking in isolation, I'm not surprised that goalkeepers kick so poorly. Even outfield players can't pass the thing properly all the time, and they spend their entire game with the ball at their feet, and have done throughout their careers. Is it fair, then, to expect someone who spends the majority of their time with the ball in their hands, or having the ball flying at them at ridiculous speed, to be able to kick as well, and as accurately, as an outfield player?

It points to deficiencies in the GK coaching regime - i.e Could part of the keeper's training not be spent in an outfield position? Or be presided over by a non-GK coach?

My good and kind Messrs Hugh, Pugh and Barney McGrew these little golden threads are alas only as good yaks kack in the real universe. A tythe of 8000 Rupees ( the cost of a modest meal for four,with wine in Maharajah Tandoori, Peterhead) on 20,000 good Hibs fans would not be enough to buy the Goalkeeper, 3 Defenders,Big Centre Back,2 Goalscorers which have been honourably requested here over the past few weeks.
Smile with the thought of the little fat fingers furiously typing matras to the false Deity from the East on Yakback will soon fall silent.
Till then a little Dhyana before each game should see us through.
