Seven Tattoos is on the way to a first team debut
What were you doing on Friday 2nd May 1986?

Even someone as anally retentive as me cannot recall exactly what they were doing that day. I was 14 and I would have been at school but the joys of underage drinking were then an untapped reservoir me for me (I went radge at 15 and have managed to stay that way ever since) so I can't remember what I did that Friday evening.

I do recall that I had mentally accepted that hertz would win the league, I know I'd had a few conversations with my Dad about 'what Celtic need to do'. But we were kiddin ourselves and we knew it. Ever since they'd won at Pittodrie on Jan 18th we'd been waiting for them to lose. It never happened.

Tomorrow I would wake up, we'd drive through to Edinburgh and, in defiance, cheer Hibs on in a totally pointless match but at 4.40pm, they'd be champions and we'd never EVER hear the end of it.

I reluctantly accepted it like Gary Gilmore accepted he would get the death penalty.

What were you doing that day? I was living in Lanarkshire so at least I didn't have many Jambos to put up with; what was Edinburgh like that day? Full of gloating Jambos who thought that all their Christmases had come at once?

TOMORROW BELONGS TO ME. But it didn't. It belonged to a hitherto, mediocre moustachioed bloke called Albert Kidd. Sweet Dreams are made of these, as our friends the Eurythmics sang.

At school, and there were lot's and lot's of brand spanking new Hearts scarfs...

Funnily enough they all seemed to have disappeared by the Tuesday when we back though

Cant remember what I was doing as I was only 4 at the time but my mum and dad were running a pub and it was full of Jambo's on the Friday night and they all had 'HMFC 1985/86 League Champions' T-shirts on.

My old man managed to get a hold of one afterwards and had 'Cancelled' written across the front of it

"Raymond are you coming to our title winning party tomorrow night"?
After a few mumbled words under my breath a few of which started with a F,I entered the living room which was bedecked in Maroon and White with pride of place,a Hearts Champions cake

Friday 2nd May 1986? With it being a Friday in the mid-eighties then statistically I would've been out my face on vodka up The Rooftops with Glasgowian 'watching' some goth band emerge from dry ice.
