TM has made some dire signings, he has failed to get the goalie and defence problems sorted after 2 years but im sure if he could operate at a higher level in the transfer market these probs could be ironed out.

You cant blame RP for all that. We have hardly sold all of our best players. We have sold one. Garry, Would you prefer to hold him back. It was a once in a life time chance. Cant complain about that.

In order to get training facilitys we need money. Apparantly we have some but its just a case of finding a suitable place to build!

RP dont have money to invest. Only person that could invest is Sir Tom Farmer. Hes the man with the money. But he has already stated he is not giving us any! Cant fault the guy. He has saved our asses a couple of times already!

dont agree with this title of the thread, Petrie has never once said oh im happy not to spend money and settle for the bottom six. He has said all along that he wants success. Now Mr Mowbray knew there was limited if not any cash available and for him to come out with this outburst now i think is totallt unnecessary. dont get me wrong i dread to think the talent Mogga could bring in with a few sqwid but he knew the score from day one when he picked up the pen to sign the contract.

On the contrary I think it was a very ambitious move to appoint Mowbray in the first place, and the board should be applauded for that.

I hate the amount of stick thrown at Rod Petrie. The guy is trying to reduce the big debt the club has and does not have a money tree growing smewhere in Leith.

Yeah, I would call chucking 10 grand a week at any player that will come to the club being on another planet. Hearts have to go along with whatever Romanov does and I would rather spend sensibly and be around in a few years rather than being somebody's bitch.

He was quite happy to accumulate the debt in the 1st place. Why the fark congratulate someone who got us into this mess in the 1st place. If it weren't for the Land sale behind ER we'd still be in about £15million debt. Aye, great work Rod. Now thanks to his previous cluelessness we're stuck with years of being crap, going by what TM has been quoted as saying in the papers today.

Top point. RP is one of the smartest guys in the scottish game. If anything its TM thats the problem. He has some sort of dellusions of grandure about how much he should have to spend. Hats off to RP for keeping us a financially sound club.

1- Own very few of the players - Comrade Romanov does
2- Are ridden with debt which has been saddled by.....Comrade Romanov
3- Finished 11 points behind us last season before the investment of....Comrade Romanov
4- Sold ALL their shares to....Comrade Romanov
5- Seen stupid wage rises which can only be maintained by a nutcase like....Comrade Romanov


TM needs to stop whining and get back to cutting his teeth on realistic terms to prove just how good a manager he can be

Before, we had the Sky TV deal and in general much more money was around, every single club spent silly, not that thats an excuse.

I haven't congratulated him, I just don't like the "Lets Get Petrie" brigade when all he is doing is trying to put the club on a sound footing. He can't win, either try to reduce the debt and get attacked for trying to stop the development of the team or spend abit more and get attack for a rising debt.

Tony knew the conditions when he came and now he is whining about it because its got a bit tough.

If he's so smart how did we end up £20 Million+ in debt over the space of 6-7 years.

In any other industry/business he would've been punted, and we'd be out the box.


I reckon the TM interview is a subtle hint dropping exercise from the manager to tell RP, "All the money we've brought in over the past two season(at a rough guestimate, circa £5 Million including the O'Connor dosh) cant all go to debt. More money must be released to sign some experienced players. Or we wont go any higher/further than we have."


Speculate to accumulate. To a certain extent.


I'm not saying we tan the lot on 1-2 players, but we now have a debt level that is very manageable(even for Petrie) but we can help bring it down by raising the level of quality on the pitch.

We're only 2-3 players away from the brink of something very good.

And that includes Deeks.(not the one that sings

i agree with your post over the last 3 years our debt has gone from 19 mill to 9 mill, our gate receipts has gone up our young players attracting lots interest.
o` conners money, on top of that bar receipts away top selling out loads where is all that money gone, our beloved football team still needs experienced players to help our best youngsters.
