Is Kris Boyd really the story? Of course it is when your putting a paper together for the benefit of the Rangers reading public.

Imagine if Kris Boyd was soon to be out of contract and he said he wanted to stay but Oh by the way Derek Riordan should be player of the year..

Wonder what the headline there would be? No need to speculate as we know.

The majority of readers of the Record want to read about the OF. Its a sad fact ,but they are just giving there market audience what they want. Its built by Weegies for Weegies and satellite OF fans

They decided the angle of the story is Derek Riordan saying Kris Boyd should be player of the year. Had he said that while he (Kris Boyd) was still a Kilmarnock player, do you think that would have been the headline? I would go so far to say that the Daily Record wouldn't even have reported it.

What is of more interest to you as a Hibby.

1, Derek Riordan says Kris Boyd of Rangers should be Player of the Year

or;

2, Derek Riordan says he loves Hibs and wants to stay at Hibs.

For the Daily Record the former and not the latter was the headline. At best it fully illustrates their pro Rangers position and at it's worst it further highlights their anti Hibs position.
