Mowbray: Why Hibs will struggle to compete

TM explains in The Herald why teams with greater resources than us will be successfull and we will struggle.

With our board determined not to invest in the team have we got a bleak future?

We lost the game thanks to a shite goalkeeper and a couple of mistakes. We gave the game away. Had the Yam Gunts scored 4 greatly worked goals then yes hands up, but we self destructed.

IMHO Its only a matter of time before Mowbray departs, his parting shot being I've taken this team as far as I can with the resources available.

I get the feeling TM isn't far from walking away. His best young players are getting sold from under him, he is being forced to bring in bargain basements and is dillillusioned about the lack of training facilities.
What a criminal waste that will be. We will be back to bottom 6 finishes in front of crowds of under 10000.
A wee bit of ambition from the board is needed me thinks.

They will all be flogged the minute a decent offer comes in, just like GOC.

I am not having a go at Tony Mowbray, Greenman but if he did go and say that there would be very good reason to question the majority of his signings..

Ok, we don't have a huge player budget but we sometimes forget that clubs doing as well as us or better (Inverness & Kilmarnock) would love to have the budget Mogga has, and indeed the superb young talent he inherited..

That said, the board have to find the budget to bring in new players in the Summer.

i think we all knew that hibs were not going back down the financial ruin road again, but there will hopefully be a little bit of money made available to bring one or two players in....i had a look at the sun dream teams yesterday and i think we have the worst TWO goalies in the spl.

They will be flogged and the money will not go towards replacing them the manager will be told to use their wages and get a replacement with same with no transfer fee involved.

Lanark Hibs was told, by a Hibs Director,if Deek moved the transfer fee would not be offererd to the Manager.
GO'C's transfer fee will have been the same.

Feel free to have a go, some of Moggas signings have been deplorable

2 dud keepers, Konte, Konde, his only saving grace is Murphy and possibly the new boy Benji who I think had a few decent touches on
Sunday and will deliver the goods.

Mogga's a great talker, unfortunately talking on the park and not in the media is what gets results.

Mogga has been given a god like status and not emulated it I'm afraid .

Murphy has been outstanding. Sproule good business but needs his arse given a good kick. Beuzelin capable of much more. Killen looks promising.

As you say two of the worst Goalkeepers in memory (Ollie was better..) Konte, Morrow (Feck he's coming back..), Dalglish (Why?) Konde (Why?) Rudge (Why?)..

Re: Mowbray: Why Hibs will struggle to compete

Why is this thread so full of doom and gloom, FFS ?????? You seem to be reading something into the article that is not there...where does it hint that TM is ready to chuck it at Hibs ???? Where does it state that players will be sold off ????? The statement made by Mowbray re. GOC's transfer to Loko still holds good IMO....i.e. if an offer comes in for a player that meets the club's valuation, is going to improve the player and is going to net him a shedload of cash, Hibs will not stand in the way. I think that has been noted by the lads who have recently extended their contracts as they believe they can improve under Mowbray and enjoy being at Hibs.

As for the budget available to TM, he is in a far better position than any other 2nd year "apprentice" manager I can think off in terms of the budget he gets and the players he inherited.

Come on, Hibbies, I realise that a lot of people are still hurting, myself included, but it's history......we need to be at ER on Weds. and at Sheepville on Sat. to get behind the team.

Europe is still a possibility and until that possibility is taken away, I for one will be 100% behind TM, MV and the players who pull on the jerseys.

(Mind you, if I had got my hands on Ivan on Sunday......

If we are going to blame anyone can we blame Petrie. At least TM is a footballing man not a penny pinching out to make money two faced rat.

And that is from someone who think Petrie has done better recently

Yeah, alot of deeper reading nonsense going on with this. Everyone is hurting from a big loss, but after wednesday night, it'll all be forgotten. We are all feeling the effect of a team like hearts who were on a reasonably financially even playing field as us jump ahead in one season. They will do ok in the short run with their squad and payroll, but how long do you think Romanov will keep it all up?

They basically need to win the champions league to start making any profits. We have started with a good base of players and have just been hurt by an enormous injury list in this season. Have to take the good with the bad as a hibs fan
