O'Connor/Riordan partnership : A Tribute

In light of the departure of Garry O'Connor recently, I feel it is just worth saying what a privilidge it was to witness one of the best striking partnerships I have ever seen in my time as a Hibs fan. Last season in particular was a joy to watch these two in full flight taking teams apart, very few defences in the SPL could handle them. It was also great that they were both local lads living the dream, and playing for the mighty Hibernian every week.

I wish Garry O all the best at his new club, i'm sure he will be a success with Locomotive Moscow and (hopefully) Scotland. With Derek Riordans likely departure in the summer, we will be losing two players who have given us such great entertainment and goals over the last few years. However, teams evolve, and I have a feeling that under Tony Mowbray, we are going to see a new team emerge next season, even better equipped for success. Onwards and upwards.

Re: O'Connor/Riordan partnership : A Tribute

I'm sure every Hibs fans wishes Garry all the best for the future as he has been a revelation. A few seasons ago, much of the support turned on him when his future and loyalty were in question. However, he rose above it and knuckled down to become a player well worth the fee paid by Lokomotiv. For me, he has been the most improved player at ER over the last 3 seasons and, whilst I hate to see him leave, he goes with my very best wishes.

Derek Riordan has also conducted himself impeccably during all the transfer/contract saga and should go with our blessings if indeed he does go. He is an exciting talent but I feel he would benefit from another season at ER - fingers crossed.

That part I very much doubt, it will not be easy to replace Deek and Garry and their combined 40 plus goals, guile and undoubted skills. The end of this season will see the passsing of another era. Lets hope its not trophyless again.

They've been a joy to watch as well having saved us paying a couple of diddy forgeign strikers silly money. One shudders to think how we would have coped when the cash dried up early in blobby's reign if we hadn't had these two. much better than our last all scots partnership of jackson/wright IMHO , as a partnership anyway
