Riordan

Was absolutely superb yesterday. Created 2 and scored 1. I personally think that we are at times a bit blase about him cause he does it so regularly, but it is worth noting it occasionally. His ball for the third goal was absolute perfection.

I think his 'work ethic' will have pleased TM yesterday, probably more so than his goal. It's his one failing but he tracked back & worked hard yesterday.

Unfortunately read in the sunday Mail and it was quoting TM
-increasing offer to Deek does not seem an option as his plans for next season seem elsewhere- not exact words but was the gist of what he said

Riordan was excellent yesterday, in all departments, with O'Connor leaving, Killen took more of the headlines, thinking back he was man of the match by a mile. We will miss him if he goes, hopefully his teamates will organise a party at Hampden or Mfield for him. Two games away from being legends.

Must agree, although I wasn't at the game by all accounts he played another blinder....

The board need to realise that games like this are the reason we should increase our offer to Deek. He scores and sets up goals more regularly than just about anyone - including Sir Ivan - and these are the crucial match winners that keep us in the league position we are in.

Basically, he makes the difference at the moment between us and other teams. He's a Hibs boy and although the board/Petrie/Mogga shafted him slightly with all the contract guff, I'm sure he'd sign on for the kind of deal he deserves.

Well done Deek, please give us 6 more months of that kind of performance...

No disrespect to big Gary O'Connor but if he's worth 1.6 Million then IMO we are losing a £5 Million Pound player at the end of this season..

What a feckin pass that was.............

I've been telling anyone that will listen that it's one of the best passes I've ever seen; perfect weight and bent round the defender to land exactly in Killen's stride.

If Derek is destined to leave, I hope it's not to a team who will play against us.

For the avoidance of doubt, anything stated in the above post is written without prejudice; is probably completely uninformed opinion, and possibly just a figment of my imagination. Readers should either ignore, treat with contempt, or simply accept the spirit it is written in, without recourse to huffy replies, legal action or threats of violence.
That includes YOU.

Mowbray is resigned to losing the special talents that Riordan possesses and even offering a chunk of O'Connor's transfer fee to stay won't work.

Mowbray said: "We are at the top of where we can go with Derek and I don't think it is about money with him.

"Derek had an opportunity to take the Russian option and if he is turning down the kind of money Mr O'Connor is taking, it suggests to me that it is not about money for him."

Sounds to me like he wants to test free agency to see who is interested, rather than restricting himself to whichever teams choose to make offers to Hibs. At least in theory, more teams should be interested and offering more wages when he becomes a free agent.

Re: Riordan

I would have dropped Riorden at half time. Done a good job on Saturday but the fact is he would rather sit on a Glasgow bench next year and is illegible for the biggest Hibs game in my and I suspect many other bouncers life-time. We should be getting the strike pairing perfected for the semi from now til April.

We do need to keep winning in the league as well. Ignoring the league and basically putting all the eggs in one basket for qualifying for Europe next year would seem like madness to me. We've got a chance to get back up to a minimum of third in our own hands, and I would quite like the pressure to be off about qualifying for Europe should we be in the cup final. Fair enough the game looked won at half-time on Saturday, but this is Hibs we're talking about, we've lost 3 goals in the second half at ER this season against a not great side.

I was genuinely worried when they scored. Too many times we've demonstrated that we've never won until the final whistle goes...

I'm surprised Mogga didn't actually mention this. As I thought his work rate was excellent. In fact he even won a header! As for his pass, as Smurf said the view from the FF lower was beutiful

I think we need to be realistic,Hibs will loose Riordan for nothing at the end of the season. All because the Board are so short sighted, wouldn't be surprised if Hibs finish 4th or 5th come the end of the season and lose other players aswell.
