Post Tony says naw to Murrayfield

Meanwhile, as the Hibs manager says O'Connor will benefit from his move, today he insists the all-Edinburgh cup tie should not take place at Murrayfield, because it is not a neutral venue.

He was back home and reunited with his family today, but for how long is uncertain. Garry O'Connor arrived back in Edinburgh late this afternoon after spending the last 48 hours undergoing a rigorous medical ahead of his proposed move to Locomotive Moscow.

O'Connor's medical took place in Germany and as the results make their way to Russia, the players' agent says the deal could move on over the weekend.

While the O'Connor camp sit and wait, so too Hibs. Although the Easter Road boss will be sorry to lose one of his top scorers, he knows the move will benefit the player greatly. But he is not so positive when it comes to Hibs Scottish cup semi-final venue. They do not want to play Hearts at Murrayfield because they do not think it would be a neutral venue.

The SFA hope to make a decision on the venue for the Hearts- Hibs tie early next week.

Our supporters will turn out in numbers no matter where it is played and irrespective of TM's wishes. Unfortunately these numbers will be less at Hampden than at Murrayfield. In terms of Murrayfield, I don't buy the bullshit that Hearts have some advantage. Did they not have home advantage on 1/1/73? If, as expected, the game goes on at Hampden, it seems to me like another excellent marketing opportunity lost for Scottish football, Hibernian, Hearts and Edinburgh. But then, ah'm fae Peterheid so WTF do i know?

Tony Mowbray never talks 'Bullshit'.

We have to trust our manager and when he says this..

"We understand and sympathise with fans who have to travel, because half of those will be our supporters," added Mowbray.

"But, for such a big game, neutrality is the crux of the matter and Hampden undoubtedly offers that.

"It's a massive event for this club and we don't want to be looking at it the following day, not having had the result we wanted, wishing we'd done something different and rueing a lack of neutrality."

...IMO we should respect it.

Listen we need all the breaks going as far as winning the Scottish Cup is concerned, if it was down to ability alone some of the great Hibs teams of the past would have won it nae borra. So why should Hibs make a rod for their own back ? Oops no pun intended !
Playing at Murrayfield give herts a psychological boost - the won as reagrds the venue they wanted .

WELL SAID TONY !!

I have a great deal of respect for Tony Mowbray - I still don't have to agree with everything he or anyone else says. And when I used the term "bullshit" I was referring to the number of posts on here on the matter.
