On the other hand, the case for Murrayfield...

1. If we play at hampden the bizzies will insist on a kick-off at some outlandish hour - likely 12.15

2. given recent experiences en route to ibrox, given the weeg's collapsing road infrastructure, half the day will be spent on the road, when we could be int boozer.

3. hampden is sh!t. so is murrayfield right enough, but hampden takes the cake.

4. imagine a derby with 67k crowd - it would beat the previous record at ER in the 50s - we could all claim to have been at the biggest derby ever!

5. I can believe this chicken-sh!t pap that hearts have some kind of 'home advantage' at murrayfield. we can't do much about how good the teams are, but this bit is in our court.

and we should boss those tarts wherever the feck we play them.

Not often I say this but, I agree with you 100%!

Murrayfield is an egg chasing stadium. This is a football match.

It doesnt matter if Hampden is a shit hole. Its the national football stadium and that is where semi finals take place.

It's also a very big stadium, and it's in Edinburgh. I'd happily take the gunts there, and travel to Hampden for the final.

They do have an advantage having played at Murrayfield a few times. The scores between the clubs this season proves it does matter where a match is played.

I think you are right on this. The key issue is what is in the best interests of Hibs and particularly the fans. We have discussed elsewhere on the board the issue of ticketing. There will be huge demand for this game and I would like as many Hibs fans to have the opportunity to roar the team on.

Re: On the other hand, the case for Murrayfield...

Ask TM & any of our players i'd be surprised if the majority would share your views about murrayfield.I do believe choice of venue is important & it would be great to have a bigger than 52,00 crowd see this game in the flesh, but imo murrayfield would give a clear advantage to the scum.

As usual big all ticket games will always have fans climbing out of the woodwork,i've done it myself before at International level. But had we drawn the so called smaller clubs in the semi how many would have went to hampden,we could'nt even sell our 7,500 allocation for ibrox.Iam sure there will be supporters who had attend home & away this season who will be divided on this issue,i for one prefer going to hampden to see my team run out onto a football pitch.

Re: On the other hand, the case for Murrayfield...

all this nonsense about Murrayfield is getting a bit out of hand. Murrayfield is not the spiritual home of the Yams and in fact most of them hated the idea of playing there. As far as the advantage of having played on the pitch a few times - in fact how many current Yams did so? Also we've played more often on the Hampden pitch recently than the Yams but no-one is suggesting that we shouldn't play at Hampden cause we have an advantage. not saying Murrayfield is a real goer just that let's not get hysterical - EGB puts forward a strong case.

In any case, I reckon rugby pictches are narrower, judging by Falkirk's on Saturday, the day after a rugby match.

Judging on what most of the fans comments of been, Hampden has the nod. We've done herz enough favours by selling O'Connor, why help them by agreeing to a venue that's favourable to them ?

Re: On the other hand, the case for Murrayfield...

IF we get through to the final would it not have been better to have played on hampden in the semi so we are more prepared for the final which will obviously be played at hampden ?

Re: On the other hand, the case for Murrayfield...

If the Jambos like M'fd that much then why did their media mouthpieces (The Scrotesman and the Evening Nothing) campaign so furiously in favour of Swinie's retention as their home?

Name me the last Hertz team to play at Farquar's Corporate Box and I guarantee you at least half their current eleven weren't on the pitch that night.

If, given HMFC have officially written to the SFA to request a switch, that switch is subsequently granted then surely this is more motivational fodder for Hibs players and fans alike.

I, as I'm getting bored of repeating, think that the overriding factors here are those of ground capacity and public order. If those are considered to be top priorities by the powers-that-be then M'fd it is.

Capacity it's impossible to argue with. Public order on the other hand is an entirely different thing. It appears almost impossible to segregate the two sets of fans after the game from what I've seen. That's a recipe for total bedlam imo.

Appears that it was Murrayfield themselves who offered the stadium...

Personally, my only worry is the state of the pitch. It'll be a lot softer than a football pitch, and the wings were fairly ploughed up at the Scotland v England game. Not much for Ivan to work with....
