I see Tony is being quoted that any proceeds would go towards a training academy. This should make a big difference to Hibs in being able to continue to attract and develop fine young talent.

With Murray and Caldwell having gone for he haw I can understand the club accepting this bid particularly given the scale of the offer for Garry.

Tony must be given the proceeds to play with though and it does mean the club have got to get Deek on a decent contract.

The lesson is players on decent long-term contracts results in a win win situation for the club and player.

Good luck to him, i say.
He may never get a chance like this again.
He has done well for us and if he is to go, he goes with earning the club some decent money from their investment. Unlike Murray or Caldwell.
I for one wish him all the best.

Don't think the free Bosman thing applies to the Russians. I am pretty sure if Riorden went there at the end of the season they still need to pay for him? Could be wrong though

Re: Garry O'Connor

Another (not so) small reason for him to go...

the Beeb correspondent in Moscow (Emma Simpson) was on Radio Scotland earlier saying that the tax in Russia is a flat rate of 13%!

That means if he is offered the reported £16K a week gross, the net amount would be the equivalent of a British club paying him approx £23K a week gross.

Lets face it, Rix was going nowhere in the game so he's not going to complain at Vlad having his say a few games a year.
