Re: Confident or not

Very confident. Scum not very good away from home, like to powerhouse for 20mins or so then run out of steam. If we can get our
passing game going on a big field I think we could run the legs off them.

Deeks out and Garys probably away and they will be missed, but can you complain about a Fletcher and Sproule front line?

You can always relay on The Merricks to fuck themselves up. They are a joke, I imagine they will have another down on the rollcoaster before the match. We are the only team that can stop them.

Lets get right intae them!!!!!!

Re: Confident or not

I accept what people are saying about Hearts away form being poor, and it has been since Rix took over. However, I wouldn't say that our away form has been exactly sparkling either. We haven't won an SPL away game since November 5th at Livingston. Also our record at Hampden is is as bad if not worse than their's is. So whilst I remain confident, it will be a very tight even game IMO and it will be the team who wants it most who will prevail. I would like to think after 104 years wait, that would be Hibs.

Just wondering what the general feeling is amongest everyone.I for one don't see why we should fear playing hearts but theres always that feeling of dread when you go to a run of the mill derby never mind a semi-final derby. From the posts i've already read since the draw it seems as if many could be a wee bit too optimistic

Hearts are a good side and have taken us apart a couple of times recently. We will have to have the tactics just right. I think it will be a tough match and we will do well to win.

Re: Confident or not

We have shown on our day that we can beat Celtic, Rangers and the Hertz. Play to our strengths on a big pitch at Hampden and we will win.

This young team have entertained us and they will achieve the success that we crave and they deserve.

2006 will be the year that we finally lift the cup and make heroes of all these young guys lucky enough to wear the famous green jersey.

Re: Confident or not

Truthfully our confidence is irrelevant. What is relevevant is what defence turns up on the day. If we play like we did at Tynecastle then it is going to be a nightmare. Each of the 4 goals were a gift, but our general outfield play was excellent.

Defence and keeper plays well we win, defence caves in and we go home with our tails between our legs.

Derby games are difficult to call, but with a shambolic back 4 they are slighty easier.

It is going to be one hell of a game with an extremely nervous audience, but one that we are more than capable of winning if the team plays as it can.

This is the same side that can win twice at Ibrox 0 - 3, but lose by the same scoreline to Dunfermline and let in 4 twice to Hearts away. Both our defeats to Hearts were at a tight Tynecastle and I believe the wide pitch at Hampden will suit our style of play.

What will help our cause is a very vocal 12th man

Absolutely.

We must though not forget that ALL the pressure is on the Yams. Surely with such a squad of players and that massive players budget they will need to deliver something this season?

Re: Confident or not

It's the draw i wanted.

Still can't work out how i feel about it though. Brellier being out for them and Broonaldo back for us will certainly help.

Big, wide pitch will help football "Mowbray" style. [oh aye, and Ivan Sproule]

Memories of this stage last season and the last derby should be all the motivation needed.

IMO the pressure is on them.

Re: Confident or not

The day i'm worried about playing Hearts is the day I'll stop going.

It's feckin decent Hearts team we're playing that has struggled away from Tynecastle not Barcelona fur christs sake.

Have we suddenly forgot that we've got some fantastic players in our squad or that we gubbed Rangers 3 nil in their own back yard without many of our better players?

Re: Confident or not

What have we got to fear from those ****s? I think on a big (well maintained!) pitch there is not a team in the country that would fancy playing against us. And, a lot of these Eastern European fudds won't have a clue about a semi-final atmosphere like this. And can you think of ANY central defender that could handle Ivan man-for-man on a pitch like Hampden??? I am personally brimming with confidence! Bring on the scum.
p.s - All the Yams in my office are pushing for a Murrayfield semi. I'm away to dump under a desk or two....

This is how I feel, but am much happier to be playing them in the semis. What I'd really like to do is hibernate until the end of may.

Re: Confident or not

The game against hearts is no more difficult than the one against the huns. I was a bit nervous about it as I often am watching Hibs but I really believe we will beat hearts. It may not be a classic but we have the players, even with DR, SB and GO'C missing. I just hope we can get more players back fully fit. When we have matched hearts in the fight we have won the football game and that is what we have to do.
