RANGERS star Ian Murray was thrown out of a nightspot where The Proclaimers were holding an after-show party.
Bouncers escorted the defender from The Edinburgh Corn Exchange after he tried to get into the bash with pals who did not have invitations. Witnesses reported seeing former Hibs skipper Murray, 24, staggering and described him as being under the influence of drink. When told he was being refused entry, there was said to have been an exchange of words followed by pushing and shoving before he left. Murray had been enjoying a night out with pals, including 22-year-old Hibs striker Derek Riordan. Corn Exchange manager Paul Demarco, 31, confirmed the incident. He said: "He (Murray) had to be escorted off the premises. We have CCTV footage of what happened. "We have had it newly installed and we knew something like this would come up. There was an incident and we watched it all on the To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 5 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. s." He said Murray's behaviour was not what he expected at his venue. He added: "It's not the best move of his career, particularly at a concert that is full of 3000 Hibs fans." Proclaimerstwins Craig and Charlie Reid are die-hard Hibs supporters. One onlooker told how he had queued to get into the party behind Murray and his pals. He said: "We were all waiting in the queue and the majority of people had passes but he did not. "It looked like he was trying to get in with a couple of girls. He was not being over-aggressive, just flopping about. "They had to get his mates to pull him back. Bouncers escorted him to the door. "It wasn't like there were fists flying but it was heated. There was pushing and shoving going on. "He looked as if he had been drinking and was complaining to the bouncers." Last night, Murray was unavailable and a Rangers spokeswoman said they could not comment. Riordan's agent, Jim McArthur, said the Hibs player had little to do with the Tuesday night incident. He added: "Ian tried to get his mates in and had organised it with the girl that organised the party to get in but she had gone. "Basically, his mates could not get in. Poor Derek had nothing to do with it McArthur said Murray was seen off the premises by the bouncers who "walked him to the door to make sure he didn't sneak through". |
