You are most welcome my friend! How did you find out about us? Tell us a bit about your club, we don't know a lot about Polish football over here, but we're interested to learn.

I was browsing white&green clubs' websites and finally - from Shamrock Rovers' page - arrived here 8)

Lechia's nickname is " The Concretes" - it's derived from fact that the club was founded by people working in 1945 at rebuilding Gdańsk's harbour, destroyed during World War II - it's mentioned even in club's official name : "Architectural Sports Club Lechia Gdańsk". The only big Lechia's trophy is polish FA Cup won in 1983. This gave us a chance to
make debut in european competition but in first round of Cup Winners Cup we met Juventus - that was the end of our adventure. We took several polish youth championships but we were never able to keep most
talented youngsters

Beside natural sympathy for other white&green clubs' fans, Lechia's fans have friendship with fans of two other polish teams: Śląsk Wrocław and Wisła Kraków. Our friendship with Śląsk Wrocław lasts for over 20 years! The greatest rivalry (like Hibs vs Hearts) is rivalry with Arka Gdynia (Gdynia is Gdańsk's neighbour city).

Last years were very difficult for the club. In 1996 Lechia was playing in polish second league (equal to scottish Div1), but we were relegated. We were unable to get back next season, then the board decided to make fusion with another club from Gdańsk, named Polonia, which was playing in second league and was aiming at promotion to highest level. Lechia's fans never fully supported this decision, because it was hard to identify with newly created club: historical name Lechia was replaced
with 'Lechia/Polonia', some games were played on Lechia's stadium, some - on Polonia's stadium, and so on. Additionally, Lechia/Polonia
fell into financial troubles, which had negative effect on results
on the pitch, leading to another relegation. Many members of Lechia/Polonia's board resigned; those who previously were in Lechia's board decided that Lechia will leave the fusion. This has one huge
drawback: due to formal reasons, Lechia had to start from lowest league
in Poland. Since this moment promotion has been won every season, as a
result this season Lechia will play at level equal to scottish Div3.
But leaving the fusion had its advatages: fans started to identify with club again - the attendance and the support at matches played at so low level have been better then it was on Lechia/Polonia matches. Many Lechia's sympathizers (those who have their own companies) help the club financially, three of them were even chosen to club's new board. This allows to look into the future with hope that good times will be back
