Hi my friends,

First i want to tell you we had great weekend! For us (Jeanine and i) was it a special one because it was the last one before our (kidney-)operation. Today i left the hospital. Jeanine must stay for at least 3 weeks. But the operation went terrific! The kidney is working very well but there is still a long way to go for us. So the first final comes to soon for us but perhaps we can come over for the next one.. I want to thank you all (and especially 1875!!) for the beautiful flowers! Again, thank you very much and hope to see you soon!

Glad you're home and hopefully Jeanine will be soon and all will continue to go well post the operation.

You never know, you may have another cup final to come over for ... if we're very lucky!

But better still, was briefly in my local tonight sporting my FCG cap wot I had bought up in Grun. Nae fecker who knows what that is here in Haarlem, couple of hundred K's away from Groningen.

Imagine my surprise (etc) when a guy nudged my shoulder to say, "Where are you from?" (he'd heard me talking Dutch at the bar). When I said Scotland, he immediately made the connection: "Oh aye, the visit reported in the local rag".

"Aye", says I, amazed that even here in Haarlem someone recognized the cap. He then added that he had lived for four years in Scotland. Coincidences don't get much 'bizarrer'.
