Re: FC Groningen 2005/2006

I like it, tonight we must defeat those irritating guys from Hoerenveen. We must win our opening-game against our neighbours. For us this is something like a Hibs-Hearts game. If you look at our match tonight, I will have a big flag in my hands when the game starts, standing on the first ring behind the goal. I think it will be on your left when you look at it on the tv-screen.
To 1875: if u want to get over here soon than we must ask the club if we can arrange something because our matches are sold-out for the rest of the season. There are only 150 tickets available for sale because they have to do it. These tickets are sold out within a few hours. So if you want to arrange something ask me or Weddel.

Congrats, Frizzie!!!!

Great atmosphere. Especially gratifying to hear the 'gezellige' Hoerenveeners gradually getting quieter and quieter as the game went on.
Good performances from Nevland (as ever) and Buys played his heart out before playing to the gallery....

Just one criticism: a bit much of the long-ball game from FCG, don't you think? That while you can see most of the players can retain possession well and are technically good.

The atmosphere was great and the match was superb.
Only I'll have to watch the game on tape because I was to busy with drinking beer in the stadium. And shouting, screaming and singing.
If you're going to watch the pictures, we made sure that your scottish flag was there, it is the flag you gave to us with all your names on it.

No, never heard of them. I like Kölsch though. Proud to inform you that our FC is still doing great. This time an unexpected (maybe not so unexpected) draw in Alkmaar against AZ the current number two in the dutch league. I know there are no what if's in fitba but what if Nevland had made it 0-2 like he should.

It just gets better and better.

From my local newspaper ("Haarlems Dagblad - the oldest newspaper in the world - true!):

GRONINGEN BEAT NAC TO MAINTAIN GOOD RUN

Back in August last year, some saw Groningen as a possible relegation candidate. Five months later and the team is seriously in the race for a Champions League play-off spot. Manager Ron Jans' team is now in fifth place after the victory over NAC Breda. Lindgren scored the deciding goal in the last minute of the game.

Groningen have only lost one of their last ten games. It is almost fifteen years ago that the northerners were regularly to be found in the higher echelons of the league; for the last five seasons, they have done no better than twelfth place.

"I'm still not happy with the whole of the game", was Jans post-match criticism. "We faded away after the first 15 minutes. A draw would have been a fairer result". A sentiment shared by NAC manager Lok: "The team is very upset at the result but I did see enough good things on the field to give hope for the future. Don't forget that we handed a debut to a couple of youngsters today."

Hi Frizzie - there's a fair chance that I will be in France that weekend but I won't know till a couple of weeks before. If it works out favourably, I'll hope to make it, otherwise let you know.

How's the rest of the crew - all in a good mood, I assume....

[quote=Riccus] Yesterday the 11th win of the season (2-0 against NAC).

Must have been drunk when I wrote this. Clearly the score was 3-2.

Got thrown out of the cup by PSV who played with 12 men. First goal was off side, third after an easily given free-kick. I know referees make mistakes but somehow they're always in favour of the big clubs. We lost 2-3. But respect to our players after being down 0-3 after 30 minutes we made an impressive comback. PSV, the leading team in our country, hardly made over the halfway line. Unfortunately we had too little time to score the equalizer. Great performance but i'm gutted anyway. Luckily there's always my little

Well we've won again yesterday.
We have beaten RKC (Roman Catholic Combination) from Waalwijk.
Finalscore 1-0, our goal was scored by Markjan Fledderus.
The referee stopped the game in the 38th minute because he heard some bad language in the stadium. But we only sang "Luurling, Luurling your mother is a whore" and "He is a son af a whore". But after a cooling down both teams and the ref. came back on the field and we won with 1-0.

Re: FC Groningen 2005/2006

Well our FA, teh KNVB will give our club FC Groningen a fine and if the guys who sang things like that get caught they can look forward to be banned from the stadium for a while.

These rules are stupid and will not work but we have them and the footballclubs and our FA want it to work because it is not social behaviour.
