Default Hello from sunny Plymouth :)

Hello peeps

I'm a lucky bugger who supports two teams in green. Am a Hibby who has been living in Plymouth for nigh on 30 years now & I love both teams

As you can imagine this summer has been a bit schizophrenic for me with Bobby n all, but it's all good in the land of footy innit

Anyways thought i'd give you a little report from Sunny Plymouth. After a great start to the season we've started to lose games, games that we were leading but somehow managed to through away, most recently in the last few minutes (sound familiar?) Bobby's tactics are also coming into question though overall he still has the goodwill & full support of the fans. I was delighted that he'd finally left ER as it wasn't working but less delighted that he left to join me other team. Still after Sir Luggy he was always going to be a hard ac to follow & you've got to give your new manager the benefit of the doubt haven't you.

Doumbe actually got his first start on tuesday & promptly scored, marvellous Unfortunatly for him he's up against the club captain, free kick & penalty taker and home town legend for the right sided centre back position but as he's a better defender I hope & expect Doumbe to now keep his place.

Anyways hello to all other greens out there, i've always had a soft spot for St.Etienne as well. Think it was seeing Platini in a green shirt in the seventies, actually made it Geoffrey Guichard (sp?) stadium a few years ago (Scotland 0 Morroco 3, shite match but great party) Think that was our last game in the World Cup, wonder when we'll see another one? Bugger i'm rambling now!

Allez le Verts

Welcome mate, sorry to hear you have that fat erse Boaby to suffer, I really dislike him and his joining the Pilgrims has seen me drop them, green or not. I hope he doesnt spoil your love of football, make you question your will to live and split the fans the way he done here.

I would wish your club luck but it wouldn't be sincere whilst the blobster is around. I bet Ginsters are rubbing their hands in glee!

Had a read of the "rub of the green" site today...I see Bobby is being slated even when you win for playing 4-5-1 at home..

I reckon you'll still stay up tho' but it won't be pretty...has the blobster started arguing with his own fans behind the dugout yet?

Cheers

CH

Not yet, but there's some open dissent atm, which to be honest is slightly harsh as we're 9th in the table which aint to bad.

Then again, the league does seem weak this year & some of Bobby's tactical decisions have met with raised eyebrows. He's already been clocked for not being the sharpest tool in the box. 4-5-1 at home to one of the weakest teams in the league doesn't show much ambition either & it was only two injury time goals from gallic genius David Frio which got us out of jail.
To complete the green connection, our defensive coach resigned on Friday to join Sir Luggy at Wednesday, a certain John Blackley.
Anyway thx for the welcome

surely that should be your realistic target. you're ahead of schedule.
Yeah, Bobby should keep us in the league all right, don't forget all the players he has inherited down here have 2 championship medals to show for the last 3 years so they know how to win matches. I suppose you could say thats it's a sort of transitional season for Argyle as Bobby slowly changes the team to suit himself rather than playing with Sturrocks players/system etc. In that respect it was always going to be hard for whoever took over, it's never easy to take over a winning team, especially if they are in a new division like us. Some players are just not going to be good enough for the higher standard (step forward Marino Keith for one) & they have to be slowly weeded out & replaced with better players.

So Your right Kenny we are ahead of schedule, 9th in div 1 or the championship if you prefer isn't too bad. Remember we were bottom of the whole football league 3 years ago with crowds of 3,000. Compare that to present day where 15,000 is the norm & we've enjoyed the most successful time in our history. Can't complain really

Bout time for an update from Sunny Plymouth me andsomes

Though Plymouth are playing reasonably well we are still slipping down the league & the R-word has been mentioned. Bobby has been performing his usual tricks, unfathomable tactics, bizzare subs etc. He endeared himself to many Argyle supporters recently suggesting that all who frequent supporters boards are sad n lonely folk who have nothing better to do than to question his bizzare decisions, anyone who thought they could do a better job was invited down to the training ground to have a go themselves. Needless to say this charm offensive, coupled with his tactical nous has resulted in calls for him to go, not bad for 6 months work Bob!
Inconsistancy has been the main problem for the team, though he has brought in a couple of players recently they should be given a chance. Not too sure if it will be shown in Scotland but we have a cup game with Everton on Sat, live on BBC1, at least it's a diversion from our stuttering league form.

On the plus side Doumbe has been the outstanding performer in the team by a country mile, he is clearly a class above this division & bids from premiership clubs are expected at the end of the season if not in the current transfer window. Quite why it took Bobby 2 months to pick him in the 1st place is a question only the fat man can answer, though it should mean a few quid for Argyle (at Hibs expense, a situation that I still struggle with).

Steve Crawford has buggered off to Tannadice n good luck stating his family couldn't settle, though it was apparant he'd just come down for the pay day at least he didn't sit on his arse collecting his large pay packet every week n fronted up, can't say he was setting the division on fire anyway n your family always should come 1st so no hard feelings there. However muppet of the season has to be Lee Makel, 4 months in he realises that playing for Plymouth Argyle might involve a little bit of travelling & Lee (luv him) doesn't like that much. The notion of looking at a map of the British Isles before signing on was obviously beyond a man of such infinite intelligence. Think the prick has gone to Dunfermiline, good riddance too!

On the plus side for myself I might be up visiting rellies soon so a visit to ER might be on the cards, it's been a while & it would be great to see some of these young whipper snappers in the green n white. Is very nice to see us heading up the table for once.

Allez le Vert!
