good work Jamie getting an overseas forum up and running!

I expect it will be useful to the broad membership at times i.e. when the Hibs/Scotland are playing away - local knowledge of travel, boozers etc.

Bit unlikely you will be coming to Doha but maybe Dubai (the huns and man united were there in the last year)

As well as giving guys like yourself, Bri, a place to leave messages, chat, exchange points of view on Hibs and your own local cultures too, but there is also the possibility that one(or more) of you might "tip the wink" on a "rough diamond" that might be able to be developed at ER, from the far reaches of the planet that you find yourselves.

doha is 1 hour flight from dubai with several flights a day - a bit like edinburgh/london shuttle run. I suggest you visit dubai as it has a pretty westernised culture and is set up for tourism - liberal drinking laws etc

qatar on the other hand is slowly heading in that direction but at the moment there are only lounge bars in about 8 hotels and the golf and rugby club - other than that it is dry - no drink in restuarants etc

the 8 bars have a monopoly and charge admission - between 4 and 16 quid just to get in - for that you get 1 drink - after that its between 3 and 5 quid a pint!

when you have a residents permit you can apply for a liquor licence and that allows you to go to the government off-licence which is like an airport duty free and you can buy alchohol for home consumtion!

so if you and the missus do visit uncle in dubai let me know and i will take a couple of days off and pop over to buy you a couple of pints!! 8)

previously worked in jamaica and west africa where there are some great players who would be cheap - but I think there is a problem with work permits unless the player is a regular international - sure you guys can give a bit more info

qatar on the other hand is at the other extreme - they pay extortionate wages for all the big names - batistuta, le beuf, rivaldo, ronnie is here and fwank is likely to follow etc etc - wages are in the 40-50k a week bracket so maybe a wee bit out of our budget!!

maybe the admin could compile a list of members by overseas location and post it - anyone around or planning a trip would be able to get in touch for info - any chance!
