Can the Great White bite again?

Nostalgia central at the moment, surrounding Greg Norman. Today we will find out if the Great White can win the Open so many years after the prime of his fabulous career...

Wonder of there is one last "bite" in his bag?

Re: Can the Great White bite again?

A thread on the Open at last! Thought nobody was watching...

He certainly looked very relaxed yesterday, played some nice shots and is obviously coping with the conditions as well as anybody. However, I felt he was lucky on a few occasions yesterday when only finding the semi-rough with his driver. I'd like to see Norman do it (can't believe it's 15 years since his last win as I remember it as if it was yesterday) but my fear is he could blast one out of bounds or at least get into a hell of a mess at one hole and end up with a triple bogey or something that could blow his chances. Take it easy Greg! A bit more caution might be the order of the day as it's hard to see anybody ripping the course up.

As my old boy said to me, " I'd have a spring in my step if I was going home to Chris Evert at night".
To be fair, in her day she was a looker.

Re: Can the Great White bite again?

Had an afternoon of watching the golf and was surprised that Norman was available at over 12/1 when joint leader or within one of the lead.

My book now reads:

Norman £155+
Harrington £25+
Choi £60-

Go for it Greg

Re: Can the Great White bite again?

No reason at all the shark cant win it. The conditions mean that it is near impossible for anyone to make a final day 64 type charge. If he just plays the same as Faldo did at Muirfield and hit the ball to the centre of the greens and two putts all day. He will win it....

In major golf, I have a kind of anyone but an American mentality. Not that I personally dislike any American golfer (apart from a few Bush lovers) , more that I dont like that fact that they wim over here in Europe more than we win in the USA.

Re: Can the Great White bite again?

Congrats to Padriag on winning the Open back to back, joins the likes of Palmer Trevino, Watson and Woods in that elite club. That 2nd shot on the 17th was the shot that won the Open.
Great golf.
