Dallas/Arlington/Fort Worth

Just wondering if any Bouncers have been to Texas, particularly to the above named places?

Eldest laddie has been given the chance to go an train there next year and we have the option of accompanying him...but wondered whether there would be enough to keep an early teen (the other laddie) content in our substantial free time?

Other than Southfork, The Dallas Cowboys and the rodeos is there anything else not to be missed y'all?

You could go to Dealey Plaza and see if that bloody tree really is in the way.

No, not yet - though a uni scholarship after school may not be out of the question...

An interested party in the UK taking a group of players out there next summer. Except they are asking if we would also like to go along for the trip as it is a longer time scale.

I have family in Texas but not in those places.

All I would say is that there is enough in these locations to keep the Local children, teenagers, young adults and even the adults entertained for their whole life so I can't see how your younger laddie wouldn't be able to get by for a few weeks.

Dallas is horrible, Jill. Once you've seen Dealey Plaza (which seems strangely small) and the Texas School Book Depository, that's about it. It's just a big ugly lump of concrete stuck in the middle of scrubland. And that's me being nice about it!

However, the Americans do kind of specialise in entertaining teenagers, so as Joe says, should be plenty to keep the wee yin interested.

Thanks Mr T

I had heard rumblings that it may not be the best place to spend a lengthy period but I had no idea really. Was hoping some of you guys would have more of an idea - thanks for your experiences

Re: Dallas/Arlington/Fort Worth

I've lived in Fort Worth for 8 years. The DFW metroplex is a great place to live. Booming economy (through oil/gas) and some of the friendliest people I've met.

There is a lot for teenagers. The weather means outside activities are easy to plan and you're rarely let down.

If you want to PM me I'd be happy to give you a full lowdown.

Re: Dallas/Arlington/Fort Worth

I've had my only stateside holiday in Texas and it was fabulous.

Did loads of things. Spent the weekend in New Orleans which was absolutely amazing. Also went to Nasa for the day - another great experience.

I'd go back again.
