That's a hypothesis that could be true or could be not. These things ebb and flow, dude.

But the question is about 'quality of ife index', or happiness. The fact that the Scandinavians seem to be more content about life might change if their economies grew too big or people worked longer hours.

I think the real reason for their success (and that of other smaller countries) is that EDUCATION is easier to organise when smaller groups are involved.

And one side-effect of education is that it can teach you that happiness is not always related to work or success in finance. If given so that the students like to learn, it can relieve the ills of crime and stress.

We can't all be millionaires but we do all have the capacity to enjoy life. A decent education system should make sure we all have the basic knowledge to get things in perspective.

Unions? Simple equation comes to mind.

240 Terawatts per annum renewable energy at roughly 15p per Kilowatt hour/ 60 million.

or

240 Terawatts renewable energy per annum at roughly 15p per Kilowatt hour / 5 million.


Do the maths...


And this is for us every year until the wind stops blowing and the moon stops spinning!!

The UK would just waste the money killing another load of civilians in Afghanistan.
