Tour de France

The world's biggest annual sporting event rolls out of Brittany on Saturday. Scot David Millar is once again in the saddle aiming to wear Yellow for at least part of the race. Yesterday's Independent had a article on Millar [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register] and his team's approach to doping.

In Kimmages book he makes that observation that he has been treated like a pariah for exposing doping, while people like Millar have been welcomed back after doping bans. It's hard not to sympathise with Kimmage, just as it's not very hard to think Vaughters is "at it" given he won't answer a simple question about whether he doped whilst on Lance Armstrongs Postal team.

Just watch Denis Menchov from Rabobank. He will win the Tour this year

Rather than predict the winner, we should be placing bets on which stage the Yellow Jersey wearer will test positive.

Its a very murky situation all round mate innit?

Personaly, I feel anyone who is prepared to expose doping in sport should be congratulated, irrespective of their motive.

It is also understandable (whether you agree with it or not) why a "grass" would be shunned by his former peers.

As for dopers or ex dopers. Maybe Millar deserves a second chance and deserved to be welcomed back. He is after all relatively unique in having served a (maximum at the time) doping ban despite never having failed a test in his career.

IMHO, his "honesty" in his turnaround and his subsequent (current) stance against doping should be applauded. Its easy to say "sorry" when you are caught cheating (not if your name is Landis, obviously) but harder to stand up and admit that you cheated in the past and got away with it.
