Learning a new language

Having read the thread a few weeks ago about all the different languages fellow bouncers speak - where did you all actually learn them?

I am going to learn Portuguese (Brazilian Portuguese to be exact) but don't really know where to start. I already know the basics.

I know you can buy disk's over the internet but are they any good / good value for money etc??

To be honest, that would be my preferred option as I cannie be ersed going to any classes or that.

Cheers.

Discs can be a useful start - though it takes self-discipline. If you go to a class, fear of embarassment keeps you going.

Are you going there? If so, I'm sure you'll find that, with a grounding in the basics, you'll start picking things up fast.

Other half is from there - she obviously speaks it as does all her family. A good incentive for me to learn the language!

The basics were learnt from her -I'm still miles away from holding a conversation though!

If the disks are up to a good standard then I think I have the self discipline to sit through them from start to finish! She'll keep me right anaw

Re: Learning a new language

Immersion courses are supposed to be excellent but having the time can be an issue.
