Re this Cormac MacCarthy book.

Do you agree with the lond dead mother/wife?

Should they have given up at the start?

Should they have all died together?

Could you have killed your own child?

What would you have done?

The future for a woman could be considered as far bleaker than a man due to pregnancy, probably the only difference.

For the record I'm not sure but I feel like the way the book went is the way I'd like it to have gone personally. It's a fucking tough question though.

Read this book twice in a month I liked it that much.

Impossible to say how you'd react in such circumstances and the facts aren't even spelt out with any degree of acuity.

The kill your child dilemma or leave him at the mercy of the savages got my cognitive wheels turning though, I have to say. Cruel love to the nth degree. There's no way I could.

What do you guess the original cataclysmic event was? Nuclear is my, admittedly unimaginative, stab. Do you reckon New Orlean's floods influenced Cormac?

I don't think I could kill my own child either.

It could have been nuclear; it talks about firestorms and I think I remember that being a possible result of nuclear fall out. It talks of dark skies too. But it could equally be due to an environmental disaster/meteor.
