I would do the same in their situation. Biggest match of the season at the weekend for them, and this pointless friendly is just in the way at this time in the season.

It's actually quite sad. The Scotsman also points out the same scenario happened last year when we were due to play Georgia, which WAS a competetive match (a bloody crucial one as it transpired).

Does this happen down South? Much less I think, the english press aren't afraid to stick the boot into any club where the national team are concerned. Unlike out OF-friendly tabloids up here. What I don't understand is why Burley never came to some arrangement where the palyers in question would play 45 minutes?
