Not many positive comments on the site either.

I just can't see how this can possibly help with congestion.

Things are gonna get a lot worse and i'd just like to say... I told you so..

I was coming down Leith Walk on a bus yesterday. It was seriously busy. Got a seat in the very last row of double seats up the stair. So there were about 100odds folk on that one bus. The trams hold about 250 each iirc. There are fewer stops (think there will be 3 on Leith Walk) than the buses (about 6 stops?). So the trams themselves will be quicker to move more people about, which will also be helped by having inspectors rather than having to pay the driver.

Oh, and while I was on the bus we passed the bit of Leith Walk between McDonald Road and Shrubhill. On that stretch of road there were 18 cars containing 24 people filling up that particularly picturesque section of the Champs AeLeithy.

So hopefully if the trams are a bit quicker then it will persuade some folk to give up taking their cars. Which will reduce congestion. If it doesn't I'll still get to where I'm going quicker, and they can keep moaning like fuck about buses, follow it up with a moan about trams, and then explain how it's them that cause traffic problems and not them in their teeny wee motor...

And the price on the trams is supposed to be the same as on a bus. Day tickets or bus passes will be valid on both.

Quite impressive video, however is it not just like having a more centralised railway in the city, ie alot less safe, some cvnts could get hit with them. How can they guarantee peoples safety, these hings cant stop on demand.

I've been reeking in blackpool many times, and Amsterdam, and never been hit yet.

Did get skelped by a bike in the Dam, right enough

Should have paid the forty euros she asked for.

They took them away due to the growth of bus and car use, that growth has resulted in too many cars and buses on the road.

They plan to take those cars and buses from the road by providing a faster, cheaper and less polluting transport mode for our city.

Hopefully a North to South route will follow in the future in conjunction with the South Suburban line and several Park and Rides.

It's happening,Wish folk would stop moaning about it and give it a chance.

This tram business is a public scandal in my opinion. Palms have been well greased for this farce and we're all paying!

Thanks for the reply PS

Do you (or anyone else) know what percentage of the population of Edinburgh - the people paying for it - will actually use the service regularly?

Not moaning here dude just interested in how much is known about this.

It's mostly central Gov funded so the people of Edinburgh won't be paying much into it,I'm not sure about % of population but you could argue that the airport or Waverley serve only a tiny part of Edinburgh but millions still use it each year.

Here's the official looking bit http://www.tramtime.com/
