BT Vision

Due to me not living in a cable area, and living in a block of flats that cannot get Sky installed (not for the want of trying) I had to resort to BT Vision.

As I type this I am currently 34minutes and 38 seconds into my THIRD such call of the weekend (Friday was 28mins, yesterday a whopping 59mins!) after getting the equipment delivered on Friday afternoon (it is now Sunday, and I am still without TV).

If you are even CONSIDERING this is as a viewing option, even if it has glanced through your mind, even once... I implore you and urge you, for the sake of your sanity, and the sanity of those you live with and hold dear to you - for the love of GOD - DO NOT BUY BT VISION.

Stick with Freeview, get a better internet service provider, and forget that BT ever existed, ever.

If there is enough people in the building who want Sky you can get a communal dish.

Nah - it's a non-starter. We don't have a access to the roof, which would mean hiring a cherry picker or erecting scaffolding to get a communal pole in the roof. There's plenty folk want it - but few are willing to shell out 2k (that was cheapest quote!) to get it in. Factors have said they'll do it............for 5k. No bullshit. 5grand.

I've fired off an e-mail to BT. Supposedly the problem is the order 'hasn't been closed off, and you need to wait 48 hours before that can happen'...
Which led me to ask 'well, why didn't you do it when I phoned on Friday?'

Response; 'it doesn't work like that'

Says it all really.

That is the sort of jargon excuse that you could only get from a big, old company like BT. Phone them and tell them you're leaving, see what they say. If no result get freeview and do some internet research about a small broadband company.

BTW - the cable companies have an agreement with Edinburgh Council to supply every home in Edinburgh with cable. If you're within EDC boundaries and they're not giving you any joy your next stop is your MP.

It could come to that mate - I've given them a 48 hour deadline to fix whatever the fuck is wrong, and this BT Vision better have bells and whistles on it or I'm pulling the plug on the lot, packing it all up, curling out a long brown steamer in the box and sending it to Managing Director c/o BT.
