January 25th: Why is this not a national holiday in Scotland ?

I am a huge fan of Rabbie's..

A day to commemorate a genius, the national bard of Scotland. I can never understand why this day is so downplayed. I also find it hard to understand why there has never been a movie of his incredible life made. He packed a lot into 37 years. Anyone who can write words like the words he wrote for Ae Fond Kiss must have been someone very special. I have have never heard a more beautiful love song in my life. His volume of work is phenomenal.

Come on Eck, a National Holiday please for one of Scotlands greatest sons..

Have they made St Andrews day an 'official' holiday yet?

Given the amount of folk who have been stocking up with whisky and haggis that I know in London, it should be a UK holiday.

Forget St Andrew's. Burns gives us something to get our danders up in depressing January.
