Pointless question to ask since it's clearly a case of social conditioning. Just as your religion is predetermined by your parentage so your taste in chip condiments is dictated by your city of origin.

Glasgow folk see salt and sauce as a kinda quaint wee "ken like" quirky Edinburgh touch.

Salt and Mayonnaise for me. Tartare sauce if I had any in the house but invariably I dont so I usually settle for Mayo. Anybody else take the supper out of the wrapper and put it on a plate or is it just me

Personally, I like sauce as the only time I got fish and chips when I was really wee was when we came up to Juniper Green to see my granny. I do love mushy peas with vinegar and the crappy English version of curry sauce as well.

I do yearn for the Cream Soda my granny bought in the 70s as an accompaniment (don't remember the brand but some thing localish, I guess)

can still get barrs cream soda, the mutts nuts when really cold,

best thing to have curry sauce with has got to be a king rib supper, now that is the bomb
