Re: Morocco/Agadir : lovely city

I think this may have already been discussed, but Hibs really should do some sort of tour of Morocco this summer. Even if we were just to play Raja Casablanca, who I believe we may have to play as part of the Zemmama deal?

Hibs could manage a friendly game with any club here as they did in austria and spain in the pre season. spain is just few miles from us. so this wouldnt be a tiring long flight.

Me too but I feel worse for the ones eating Pizza Hut and MacDonalds.

Quite nice pics apart from the minging architecture. Is there an old town in Agadir? I mean a part of town that hasn't been westernised and doesn't look like Spain. I don't mean to come across as condescending and I know this could be taken that way but when I go on holiday I don't want to see Macdonalds and crappy apartments. I can see them in Leith or Spain. It probably wouldn't be my first choice of places to visit in what is a large and diverse country but the beaches do look nice.

Actually, I've just looked at Wikipedia and found out that Agadir was the first sardine port in the world or is the biggest (might be a translation thing). That's it, I'm booking my ticket tomorrow.

Mmmmm, sardines.......

Well, Agadir is not all about the westernised town, it s known by it s areas around it. you would find plenty of traditional things, food, customs etc..
whenever you surfing on net about agadir there will be mentioned many other areas around it... like MIRLEFT ,IMOUZER, TIZNIT, TAROUDANT ....

the long sea morocco has made it one of the biggest export of fishes, and Agadir has a big port where i think you would find many difference kind of fish.

one other point, agadir town looks so westernised bcos i can say it s a new town after the eartquake in 1960. so the town had been rebuilt in that way.

when you come i would give u a packet of sardine lol mmm i like it too.

Re: Morocco/Agadir : lovely city

I've been to Agadir (but only for one night) - as a visitor i thought it was very different from the rest of Morocco - much more like the resort towns of the Spanish costas...that wasnt really what we wanted to see so we hired a car and drove down the coast to Sidi Ifni which was brilliant then inland and over the Atlas to Marrakech. Would love to go back sometime. There is good surf near Agadir though, it'd be a good place to catch waves all day and have a beer and a fish tagine while watching the sun go down.

SIDI IFNI, lovely place south agadir, long sea with beautiful scenes, there is also good waves for surfers.. we have a wonderful sunset scene here, just sitting and looking to the sun going down and down under the sea . fish tajine i love it..

Re: Morocco/Agadir : lovely city

I remember looking into doing a split holiday a few years back where you would spend 3/4 nights in Marakech then 10 nights in Agidir.

Didn't do it in the end but I wish I had.
