Read it years back.Pretty good if I remember right. Always good to read someone who analyses history as well as makes it. The fact he was a good 'Hibbie' makes it even better. I am referring to James Connolly btw.

is this the name of the book?

its a pity the JC Bookshop is no longer down in the Southside, it had many good books. Bought a couple.

Not read that one but have read a few books by Peter Beresford-Ellis and really enjoyed them. His book on 'Celtic Myths and Legends' is a great read as is the book 'The Scottish Insurrection of 1820' which he co-authored.

PBE is one of the few historians who has chosen to specialise in Celtic history and politics and as well as writing on Ireland and Scotland he has written extensively on Wales, Cornwall, Brittany and the Isle of Man.

I take it he edited/selected the Connolly work?

What happened to the Connolly film that was getting made. My union [RMT] was trying to get some of us to be extras as they were financing some of the film but ive heard nothing for ages.

Last I heard was that Peter Mullan was on board but it was still stuck in the long process of raising the required funding.

the introduction seems to imply PBE selected and arranged the works...not sure if they are reproduced in full or edited for a better read.

I'll do my traditional post whenever Connolly is mentioned and point out that there is a decent archive of his writing for various periodals [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register]

finished bobby johnstones book (not the best - by no means the worst) and was in a deadhead mood so kicked into peter marinellos book (JC/PBE wasn't so easy reading)

marinellos book - so far hilarious - easy reading though shouldn't take long to finish.
