first off i admit i haven't been following this particularly closely.

superficially it seems sleazy as fuck, with big capitalism corrupting the parochial politicians that come into it's orbit. very new labour really.

can someone with a better informed view put me straight?

I would agree with that.

All in all i'm glad that its being looked at again. Maybe its already had the green light and I missed it. But, my mate john comes from that neck of the woods despite being lured to the green side by me and my mate, and he said theres that much land up there that you wont even notice the complex.

As for areas of natural beauty and disturbing animals homes, you can see more wildlife on a golf course than you would with your everyday meanderings so whats the problem with this. Loads of jobs for people in that area weighed against the possible, and I stress possible, disruption to wildlife.

Just being devil's advocate here: given Salmond's possible conflict of interests, how about a list MSP from the area that includes his constituency meet up with Trump's merry men? That would remove any possibility of him being accused of any skullduggery.

FWIW I don't think Salmond, much as I dislike him, is doing anything other than trying to serve his constituency to the best of his abilities.

I believe it is a full billion dollar investment, not half.

Regarding the case, the committee responsible have been made to look stupid and that may have been badly done but there does not appear to be any "sleaze " involved.

Liberals trying desperately to get their names in lights I reckon.

I agree. Constituency and country i'd say.

In other words if you are super-rich and of a bullying manner you'll get your way, local rules and regulations are of little hindrance.
And of course the Land Reform (Scotland) Act (aka the Right to Roam law) will have to be amended to suit Trump and his minions or else he'll go in a huff and take his dough elsewhere.

I'm not much of an SNP supporter but don't see what the problem is here. He SHOULD be talking to potential major investors and he should be calling in the application for consideration as it is of regional significance. The fuss seems very childish.

Aye, but how many folk wander about the countryside every day? Feck sake, how many folk wander about parks regularly!

I dunno much about why there is a SSI there, but if it's there, then it's for a reason. Which means disturbing the habitat is liable to cause damage, possibly irreperably. Preserving as much biodiversity as possible locally, nationally, and globally is by no means a bad thing imo.

What Aberdeen Council could maybe have done was suggest alternative sites somewhere rather than just a big naw. Saying that considering that if the predictions of global warming are right, perhaps folk should be trying to punt any land beside the sea as soon as possible...
