the edindex housing register

i was on this a few years ago when it came out but i never renewed it after a year as i 1/4 owned a house in the end but now i want to sell up and get a council/HA flat/house as i need the cash. in honest terms what are the chances off getting one you bid for as going by the results page all the properties apart from a tiny percentage go to prioroty cases. has anyone ever been succesful in getting one specialy as the 4 biggest housing associations let you bid for them as well. or will i have to paint myself black speak urdu be a tranny alcky with a cronic disability as well as living on the streets suffering from domestic violence to get one. : dunno: anyway i sent off the form today and bidded online. but when you get 200 bids for the fort i cant see much chance myself

I used to work in the Housing Dept,Single men aren't even legally entitled to a house though they will give you emergency accomadation if need be.

Expect a wait mate.

Re: the edindex housing register

i remember when i ended up homeless about 4 years ago i went up there and all they would offer me was somewhere in feckin ROSYTH its not even in the council area. i ended up in this hovel in haymarket where i was the only scot in there as the rest were illegals asylum bla bla bla 1 bath between 8. it was run by some cowboy that charged £50 a week for this room. i lasted 2 weeks and only stayed there 3 nights the entire time i was there. scary as fuck as well. ive never signed on or been unemployed and when you need there help at the time they treat you like shite. im in a far better situation now mind you as i can afford to wait wait and wait the now but there must be loads of single guys in the same situation as i was totaly put at the back of the pile because we are the highest majority that need social housing

Have you thought about renting privately? A room in a shared house could work out pretty cheap and allow you to live in a decent part of town.

Not better to remortgage to release the equity dude? Then you could rent out your flat when you're away that would cover the mortgage and give you a hoose for when you get back from your travels?

lol with my credit rating id stuggle to get a provy loan the now. as i said before its all a waiting game. but its still a possibilty to rent my flat out as i would get £600 a month for it as thats the price others or i should say the most go for in the southside. fuck paying that for a flat per month. its well scary how dear its getting just to put a roof over your head these days. im dreading it for folk younger than 25 that are starting out in life. i would say social housing is the biggest issue the government needs to deal with but they are doing fuck all.

I think it's quite shocking that the housing system doesn't allow you to fcuk off for a year or so on holiday but instead concentrates on families who are homeless or living in terrible conditions.

I know that the Director of Shelter reads (and posts on) this site quite regularly, and whilst he may well be composing a response to the government green paper, I'm prepared to bet that he has just spilled his frappe all over his designer breeks to hear of your misfortune.

You should get a decent PR guy to write some articles, because it would be easy for the gutter press to paint you as some sort of selfish or cynical ****.

Make sure it's nobody who knows about your dwarf problem.
