Re: Gretna v Huns SPL Cancelled To Help Huns...

All for the greater good of the Scottish game though cough cough

Noticed in yesterday's Daily Retard a Rangers supporter COMPLAINING about this as he reckoned the Gretna game was 3 free points and is now worried that Sellick will go in to Christmas with a 6 point lead over his beloved team. Can't win, can you?

Personally I don't think they should be allowed to do this - after all, European competition is the reason the OF have such big squads.

It is a joke. I wonder if the SPL would do it if Aberdeen asked for the same before their last uefa cup match. I doubt it.

Just shows that Rangers are running scared.

I'm sure that if Aberdeen were playing 48 hours before it, the SPL would postpone the match

Re: Gretna v Huns SPL Cancelled To Help Huns...

Disgraceful decision.

What we will now see is every scottish team wanting their fixtures cancelled before European games. The SPL have opened a massive can of worms by doing this.

For some reason, the SPL chief said that ''Everyone in Scotland wants the Scottish teams to get through''.

Er, don't think so.........

As was said on telly the other day by Sir Patrick of Nevin, the game was due to take place on the Sunday, why not move it to the Saturday thereby alleviating any difficulties the hun may or may not face and also stopping a fixture congenstion.

Because that would be using common sense. That would be too easy!

Re: Gretna v Huns SPL Cancelled To Help Huns...

I think it is fair.

The match cannot be moved to Saturday because of the TV deal.

Games were cancelled before a crucial Scotland match, so why not return the favour for the OF in this sense?

I would like to see both sides go through in Europe, that might be slightly controversial but I like to see the SPL's rep grow in europe.

Why cant the match be moved. There have been santa games on a saturday before and will be again or are Santa now the driving force behind match day allocations in Scotland. Thats a bit like the tail wagging the dog mate. Anyway, the games pre the Scoland match were cancelled mainly because old firm players were required to be fresh. What about before under 21 games when we had 5 players or so in the pool and these pplayers were also first team regulars or certainly knocking on the door. did the SPL volunteer to cancel our games to allow the boys time to rest up, did they fukk. Any ideas why?

Cannot believe the stupid arseholes at the spl have given the huns a day off so there players can be fit for the clash against Lyon.
Whats going to happen next any team in european cup ties are going to get spl fixtures re-scheduled
to suit european cup, you don't see any of the english club ask for such conditons so why do rangers
get to do this, there squad may not be good enough to play both games but is big enough.

Re: Gretna v Huns SPL Cancelled To Help Huns...

If the huns get through they'll make millions and rape the talent from other clubs. The huns, Hibs and Gretna are three businesses operating in the same environment. Gretna should not be actively helping one to maximise its chances to become super wealthy. In theory a club could be relegated in 2 seasons time because they've been stripped of talent by a super-rich huns who only got through by virtue of Gretna's rolling over.

I'll bet there's a brown envelope in it for Gretna if they do get through! Feckin shoddy! Think I'll complain to the Office of Fair Trading. Who knows who might leave Easter Road in January for Ibrox thanks to those boil in a bag, tuppence ha'penny, third rate charlatans and their chain smoking, egotistical fanny.

Gretna have no feckin right to help the huns rake in massive amounts of cash. Disgraceful! I hope the huns get humped so hard they don't know what's hit them.

Fucking Gretna are unbelievable. Why on earth wouldn't you want to play a team who will have to not field their full team!

Get them to fuck!

Re: Gretna v Huns SPL Cancelled To Help Huns...

The power and influence of the Old Firm shows itself once again. They control everything. The SPL was created for their benefit. The Setanta deal benefits the Old Firm more than any other clubs in the league, this weird irish based station only started broadcasting Scottish Football because of Rangers and Celtic. Both McCleish and Smith have now walked out on the Scotland job withing a year and yet hardly a word of criticism in the syconphantic Scottish media. In fact both managers are feted and lauded by the media for what they have done. I wonder what they would have said if Craig Levein or Mark McGhee had walked out on their country to take a club job.

This Gretna decision is just another example of them flexing their muscles and bullying clubs and the league into doing their will.

Re: Gretna v Huns SPL Cancelled To Help Huns...

Gretna have resigned to relegation. As I've said on another cowshed thread - accepting defeat is never acceptable - Gretna supporters should vent their anger. The opportunity was there to play a Rangers team wary of playing key players ahead of a big tie the following game after. This would surely of gifted Gretna a chance to take something from the game and close that ever expanding gap that is forming infront of them.
Maybe they are expecting a favour in return of their kind gesture. Maybe no.
