Replacement Judas

I read somewhere last week an interview with Mark McGhee in which he was pontificating about his chumminess with GJP and how their careers had developed and over the years. He said to the journo something like:

“The Ginger Judas Prick and I were both out of work at the time; I had just led Brighton to relegation and been rightly sacked for it whilst Judas had been emptied at the Hunnery and was hanging about the Daily Retard offices looking for a job as a columnist, so he came down to see me and we got rat-arsed on cheap wine for a few days.”

Nothing too surprising in that you might say, and you would be 100% correctomundo. However, the pompous McGhee (who once complained that he had not been head hunted by SPL Clubs despite being a pure dead brilliant manager) then went on to say:

“Who would have thought that a year later Alex would be leading a Premiership Club whilst I was being linked to the Scotland manager job.”


Is it just me?
What a patronising attitude.
Why not say “whilst I was managing a top SPL side (I know they aren’t but if I was the manager I’d say they were) or “while I had returned north to work as he went south”

If I was a ‘well fan I’d feel the guy was maybe not really thinking of himself as the Motherwell manager……… but maybe saw his future, in fact his very very near future, as somewhere entirely different.

Just wonder if that’s another way his career has mirrored Judas. Has McGhee already been lined up, and the announcement will be several weeks away to make it look like due diligence has taken place?

Next year he may be able to say "who would have thought that GJP is out of work following Birminghams relegation to the Championship whilst I am still managing a mid table SPL team with no hope of ever improving my career"

McGhee does sound a pompous twat eh? I hope his tenure goes more the way of his 3rd year at Brighton than his 1st year
