Re: Elephant in the Room?

Interesting article but by its own admission very inconclusive and the murder rate is also vastly down about a third in 3 years.

Therefore don't see why you think this is maybe an elephant in the room, unless of course...

Hmm. Think I'm going to have to wait for the Daily Mail's take on it before I comment

There's been quite a bit of debate about polcing methods when it comes to the level of murders committed by gangs of black teenagers in London. There is debate about whether the police should use stop and search to reduce the incidence of knives and guns but this raises spectres from the 1980s connected with intimidation and bullying by the police. On the other hand almost all the victims are young black males as well some picked on because they are not in a gang or are studious. I suppose this shows the nonsense of the concept of the "black community" or anyone who claims to speak for it. I guess the world divides into criminal ****s and honest folk far more than black and white. You can exend this argument to the fictitious concept of the "muslim community"

My view on the article is that is looks at a supoeficioal characteristic (race/language) for the reasons for crimminality but that isn't where the reasons lie. If there is an issue with some imigarns e.g. for war torn area like Somalia it is that some people's experiences may have been very damaging and these should be identified somehow and addressed.
