The ASC were indeed over and in numbers too. They were getting stuck in apparently.

Dons fan was subjected to a terrifying rape in Madrid.

The victim was attacked in the capital 24 hours before trouble erupted at the Dons clash with Atletico Madrid.

It's thought she was walking back to her hotel when she was jumped by a gang of men.

British Consulate officials in Madrid said they had spoken to the victim and the crime had been reported to Spanish police.

Meanwhile, those officials were today holding crisis talks after Dons fans branded Spanish police "animals" for launching an "unprovoked baton attack" on fans.

One fan was today in hospital with serious injuries and several other suffered cuts and bruises when 30 mounted police laid into Dons fans outside the Vicente Calderon Stadium.

Witnesses told how women and children were among those hit as police conducted what Aberdeen FC officials described as "an indiscriminate attack" on the Dons fans.

Spanish police have confirmed 11 arrests were made prior to the game.

Neil McDougall, a former chairman of the Association of Aberdeen Supporters' Clubs, said: "The police behaved like animals.

"I've followed the Dons all over the place for the last 30 years and I've never seen anything so frightening and sickening."

Pittodrie security chief John Morgan, his assistant Gordon Ritchie and undercover officers from Grampian Police were also pushed to the ground and hit in the mayhem as terrified fans fled the scene.

Morgan and Dons director Duncan Fraser cancelled plans to return to Aberdeen with the team to stay in Spain and raise their "deep concerns" over the way their fans were treated with the police, Spanish authorities and UEFA.

Fraser said: "We are not happy with the way the fans were treated.

"It appears they have been victims of an indiscriminate and sustained attack by the Spanish police.

"We will carry out a thorough investigation."

Morgan was uninjured when he was knocked the ground as fans raced to get away from the baton wielding police officers.

But he admitted he was horrified by some of the scenes he witnessed.

Morgan said: "It was disgusting and horrific.

"I saw a child of about 10 being hit with a baton, which is not acceptable. Women were also struck. The Spanish officers were also kicking into grounded fans.

"It was a sustained and unprovoked attack.

"We want to know why they felt it necessary to have 300 riot police there in the first place.

The battle was filmed by a Spanish television crew and led their news bulletins today.

The footage also shows that hundreds of Dons fans had earlier ran for safety when a group of Spanish hooligans, disguised by balaclavas and scarves over their faces, threw burning flares and missiles at them while they were singing and drinking at the El Parador Bar, just beside the stadium.

Not sure that Youtube video shows Aberdeen fans rioting at all. Difficult to figure out what's going on.

You can see a few kilt wearing fans running towards something, what it is i don't know. I have heard it was an organised thing with some atleti group who are the madrid ultras.
