Lions for Lambs
Anyone else been to see this yet ?
I saw it tonight and TBH I had a job keeping my eyes open. It's reasonably well acted (particulary by Meryl Streep as always), but it was too preachy and drawn out for me. I am against the US foreign policy in the middle east as much as anyone, but the whole film just seemed like a cumbersome Party Political Broadcast by the Democrats. Tom Cruise is just an embarrasment now. I liked some of his earlier films but I genuinely think the guy is flipped and some of his recent films have been a joke.

Re: Lions for Lambs
I think a lot of your feeling regarding the film being an advertisment is that it was directed by Robert Redford. He certainly interjected his personal politics into the film and its direction and view and made no effort to hide them. A really poor attempt on his part to be Michael Moore.
Cruise needs to go away, be quiet and re-invent himself like Ben Affleck did. Take some minor supporting roles, and rebuild his credibility. When you think of the catalogue of his work, the only really outstanding parts he played were in All The Right Moves (1983), Rainman (1988), Born On The Fourth of July (1989), and Magnolia (1999). Outside of these films you can you name one performance worthy of merit or memory, where his individual performance carried the film and wasn't remembered because of special efforts or another actor's performance? For example Top Gun (1986) the real stars where the aircraft and flying scenes, and A Few Good Men (1992) without Nicholson who even remembers this film? In fact the best bit of acting he has done has been playing a straight man married to Katie Holmes.
