Africa Football Kit Appeal
awright
I work as a volunteer for a charity which runs football coaching projects in Africa with the aim of raising awareness and understanding of HIV / AIDS among young people, I have worked in this field in around 14 African countries most recently in Uganda in Jan / Feb this year. We also distribute football kit to the teams, schools and organisations we work with which are generally in poorer areas. I am away to Ghana in January with a few other coaches and am lookin for unwanted football kit to take over as we have a lot of excess baggage allowance courtesy of BA and the BBC are also taking some of our freight with their African Nations Cup kit, speakin of which look out for a large saltire at games during the tournament To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 5 or greater. I am particularly lookin for old sets of full kit from amateur teams etc but I will also take over any individual football shirts, training tops, kids boots / trainers etc. If you are able to donate anything please reply here or send me a pm to arrange. any kit will be gratefully received where its going. cheers Robbie GGTTH ****NOTE - any kids HIBS shirts should still go to the Dnipro appeal, I will pass on any I receive to the committee****

Re: Africa Football Kit Appeal
Watched a very moving short documentary about a guy taking footballs out to the kids in Africa last night. He filled a jeep up with something like 1,000 footballs and simply drove round Africa passing them out. The effect that throwing a bunch of kids a football seemed to have on their morale was quite fantastic.
It seemed that one of the most frustrating things for the guy was that some area's he was unable to give the kids a ball because of the land mine problems. You could see it really affected him having to just drive past these kids without being able to give them a ball, especially after seeing how much the other kids enjoyed it. Great work Robbie.
