I watched the Aberdeen V Locomotiv Moscow game on Thursday night.

I noticed that there were several advertising boards which were in Russian script, so obviously the Russian companies thought that there'd be a decent TV audience for the game....

So my question is...

Why was the advertising on the (boggin!) Locomotiv strips for "Russian Railways" written in English script, and the players names were also in English??? Are they this way when they play their domestic games? there's does not seem to be much point in advertising Russian Railways to people who don't come from Russia, as 99% of people who visit there are likely to fly.

Maybe Sergei can explain?

think its a worldwide thing. if you see japan or china playing they have english lettering for there names. unusual for the russian railways though. cant see me using these much

As regards the players names, I think UEFA insist on them being in 'our' alphabet. Was same when played Panathinaikos.
