CIS Cup Semi goes to Tynecastle

Not that I'm particularly bothered by it, but why do you suppose Aberdeen-Dundee United is at Tynie?
- Easter Road has better stands, OK the East is ramshackle but so is their main, as a whole we're better
- capacities are roughly the same, in fact I think Easter Road holds a couple of hundred more than Tynie
- far more executive and hospitality facilities, which must be important for the blazer making their move
- easier to segregate 50-50, turnstiles on three sides of the ground utilising different routes & streets
- hosted far more Semi-Finals, international matches etc. recently so have a reputation as neutral venue

The only reason I can think is Tynie is a bit closer to Haymarket - or Eddie Thompson preferred giving Hearts fee?

Re: CIS Cup Semi goes to Tynecastle

One obvious factor springs to mind - by late January is Easter Rd likely to have 4 stands with approx 17k capacity of 3 stands with approx 13-14k capacity?

If the latter, Tynecastle becomes a far more attractive option.

Maybe doesn't really prove anything re the redevelopment of the east, but the club did say they hoped this would start early next year, so maybe they've been contacted about hosting the game and have advised the ground could have a reduced capacity by that time?

Fair point mate - let's face it, between these two clubs, would 13k capacity be sufficient? My answer would be YES, and I would imagine that the game will be shown on TV so how many Arab and Sheep fans will turn up? Food for thought.

It wont be televised, the BBC are showing Rangers v Aberdeen. I would anticipate it being a near sell out therefore.

Re: CIS Cup Semi goes to Tynecastle

The Mad Grocer spent a couple of hours sorting the details for Gunts v Arabs in the 'first draw'.

Maybe it was easier just to stick to the arrangements and substitute Sheep for Gunts?

Anyway, as you said in the original post

For the avoidance of doubt, anything stated in the above post is written without prejudice; is probably completely uninformed opinion, and possibly just a figment of my imagination. Readers should either ignore, treat with contempt, or simply accept the spirit it is written in, without recourse to huffy replies, legal action or threats of violence.
That includes YOU.

Re: CIS Cup Semi goes to Tynecastle

If there's likely to be only about 13,000 at the game would they not have been far more sensible to just hold it at Dens?

Re: CIS Cup Semi goes to Tynecastle

Dundee Utd will be delighted to play there, given their last 2 big wins agaisnt Yams. Logistically, it is a little easier to get to for both sets of fans.
At the end of the day, who cares ?
