The answer is that they'd just gather together as a group and play bounce games amongst themselves. They didn't have long to wait before those young upstarts, Forest came along in 1864 and before that Stoke City in 1863.

They are playing a friendly against Inter Milan at Bramhall Lane on Nov 8th.
