No, and not just on religious grounds. I believe that life begins within the womb at the time of conception. The mere idea of destroying an unborn life in the womb just appalls me. This is not a subject I like to get into a heavy debate about because I find it too upsetting to be honest. So, i'll just leave it at that.

I can't resist; for the record I'm for abortion and I think that anyone that would refuse one for someone else is overstepping the line in regards to their role in that person's life. Folk should feel able top advise for & against abortion in any given situation or in general but they should always stop short of enforcing their beliefs unless it can be proven that the person due to give birth is not of sound mind.

Its not quite the right question. Nobody in there right mind is in favour of abortions happening. However, there are circumstances when, within certain limits some people believe it is a woman's right to choose whether she continues with an unwanted pregnancy.

Nobody in their right mind is in favour of children being unwanted, either, so its a sticky one.

I fall into the pro-choice lobby but I really wish that a fraction of the effort and argument that is put into the abortion debate was put into removing the cause. That is, unwanted and unplanned pregnancies. That is the root of the problem. Reduce them you reduce abortions.

i watched that dispatches programme last night. some of the scenes were harrowing. my partners brother was born after just 25 weeks and survived without any problems. the program showed a 24 week old baby/foetus being aborted. its a very fine line i still feel 24 weeks is far to late unless it is detremental to the womans/babys health for a termination. my limit would be half this at 12 weeks and no more. ive posted before about this but ive heard from a student nurse who has witnessed this that 20+ week terminations arnt very pleasent and are born alive and just left to die. its all very sad

Not one for sitting on the wall with things like this but i'm afraid i'm going to have to and not vote. I've avoided opening this thread all day because it's one of those ones that you don't like to think about but you cant avoid in life.
