Nana; You cant read a book by its cover.

Grandad; Son always wear a belt with a big buckle, when you get in a fight you can take it off and beat the shit out of them.

'Whats for you wont go by you' was one of my grannies favourites.

Her other one [shrieked] was 'Bill, theres centres in these tatties' (Billl being my long suffering Grandad who did the cooking because my Gran couldnt get around enough and apparently he couldnt boil tatties properly)

Not in the traditional Scottish style which is to put them on the boil with a handful of salt just as the turkey goes in the oven?!!!!

I dont think it mattered what they were accompanying Col, he ws just crap at boiling tattties.

Cold water, salt and tatties boil for a while until tatties are cooked, test periodicallyby stabbing a tattie with a fork. Couldnt be simpler.
