got it last week, enjoying it a lot especially after their last offering. Im liking the fact that they havent reverted to minimalist bollocks but instead have the ability to contain electornic influences inside proper rock songs.

they were about way before ' britpop.' consistently fine band, radiohead on the other hand are ( imho ) feckin dismal.

True. I don't think they've developed as a band though, so 'consistant' is probably acurate.

they released their first album in 1991, true. But they are definatly part of the britpop movement. their sound is also stuck in britpop- no growth whatsoever in over 15 years.

1990 in fact, always thought they'd be associated with the first wave of ' Madchester ' era bands rather than britpop for what its worth, out of interest how many of their 9 or 10 albums are you familiar with?

I'd say there's a 4/5 crackers in there with a couple of recent ones sounding a bit more like going through the motions.

Definitely.

Britpop was Blur, Oasis, Elasitca, Radiohead etc.

Madchester was Stone Roses, Charlatains, Happy Mondays, Northside, Flowered Up etc.
