Although you say its nowt to do with bias, I see it as a general trend in Scotland in recent years whereby less and less of our football is on council telly, therefore people have to buy shitanta or sky or both. In England they wouldn't put up with it, and the beeb would be feart to try letting go of the contract.

thats the rub though - the bbc couldnt give a shit if scottish folk dont watch cos its a tiny proportion of their audience and they know that with the blanket coverage they give to english football eventually scottish people will end up just following england - look at how so many kids in scotland nowadays have an english league side as their favourite team. The only way for this to stop would be for bbc scotland to have the balls to stop showing crap like football focus and motd.

what do i have to do do to get away from it?

meanwhile i cannae listen to the scotland match or the majority of hibs games on the bbc or watch the spl highlights as theyre unavailable outside the UK. it's us ex-pats who need it most
