MP and wife in Celtic boat abuse

A DUP MP has said he and his wife were subjected to "sectarian abuse" by Celtic supporters during a ferry crossing from Scotland.

Gregory Campbell said he deliberately timed his journey to avoid football fans but a small number were on board.

Mr Campbell said the incident on 15 September was upsetting for his wife.

"Two individuals on two separate occasions individually engaged in foul-mouth sectarian abuse," said the East Londonderry MP.

"I'm used to that from time to time because I'm in the political game, but I didn't think it was the appropriate thing for my wife to endure."

Mr Campbell added there was "no problem or difficulty" with the vast majority of fans on the ferry.

Thoughts?

IMHO sectarian abuse just shouldn't happen but there are a few extra factors here -

- What is he calling sectarian abuse? We have no one's word but his.
- Any other witnesses? We have no one else's work but his.
- This involved two people on a ferry full of people. Why make such a public issue of it. What did he hope to achieve? The story was front page of the Belfast News Letter FFS!
- Campbell is a Rangers supporter. Could he assure us that the same wouldn't happen if a Celtic-supporting SDLP MP was on a boat full of Rangers fans.

I'm all for an end to sectarianism, but childish sensationalist nonsense like this story does no good for anyone.

How did they recognise him in the first place?

I'm assuming it was from the large d!ck smack in the middle of his forehead which easily identifies all supporters of the ugly stepsisters. I just wasn't aware they came colour coded so they could tell one another apart.

Conor why do I get the sense you are one of only about 10 people in back home who isn't a victim.
