At least now his parents can attempt to move on knowing some kind of justice has been done.

Parents stay round the corner from me, and the Mum is now back working in the local Spar.

Witnessed it cant belive its 13 months already, walking home from school when I was still there to be introduced to a little lad lying on the ground helpless.

At this moment in time no emergency services had arrived, only the Police car that stopped that was chasing the vehicle in the first place.

Still remember the all the Flowers, Hibs Tops, Scarfs, Lightsabers, Pictures that covered that street for weeks.

It's actually 12 months exactly to the date. 5th October 2006.

Personally, I think he should have gotten way more than 12 years. He hit and killed a beautiful wee boy and didnt even stop the car.

He will be only 38 when released if he serves his sentence, which he wont. He will then get out, get all the help going to get a house, a job, money etc. Jack, on the other hand, never got to fulfil his potential, we will never know what he may have achieved, and his parents and brother and sister have their own life sentence to live without Jack, through no fault of their own. I knew Jack, he was a lovely wee lad.

Not really knowing how the legal system works beyond the fact that 12 years really means 6 years, I would have to say it is way too short a period. the guy has a criminal record stretching back 12 years to when he was 14 years old and we're not talking smashing windows criminal activity. he is clearly someone who does not give a cr@p about anyone except himself. Unless real proof of a massive change of character is shown he should not be allowed free.

In fact I think many criminals should have as part of their terms of release clauses that they must be able to provide concrete evidence that upon leaving prison they carry out postive community work and generally do good for their neighbours etc - mind sound a bit corny but unless we start insisting folk act kinder to the rest of scoiety we are likely doomed to become even more violent and selfish as a whole.

Crossed at the lights this morning on the way to work and seen some flowers there, which is nice that people will always have Jack in there thoughts...

I will be going round with my little girl tomorrow morning to put a little teddy of hers down for wee Jack..

I dont know Jacks dad , but often see him run past the front garden in the morning with his hibs shorts and tee shirt on, and to be honest I just so want to stop him and say how sorry i am for his and his family's loss... but can never bring myself to do it..

Not often I shed a tear , but my eyes fill up when ever I hear or read about this story.. Such a terrible waste of a young life and makes you wonder how life can be so short and so horrible to such an innocent wee child...


Rest in peace wee man ... I hope you get a better deal of things where you are now than you did on earth .......RIP ya wee STAR...

Stop the man & speak to him.

All you will probably have to do is listen to him talk about his boy. Not much to ask.

A friend & neighbour of mine lost his son in a car accident last year & i avoided him for days.
One day i was on my way home from work & he was washing his car & i could not avoid him.

He was so glad just to talk to someone about his laddie.

I'm sure Jacks dad is the same.
