Scotland name squad for Ukraine, Georgia qualifiers
GLASGOW, Oct 3 (Reuters) - Scotland named the following 24-man squad for the Euro 2008 qualifiers against Ukraine on Oct 13 and Georgia on Oct 17.
Goalkeepers: Craig Gordon (Sunderland), David Marshall (Norwich City) and Allan McGregor (Rangers).
Defenders: Graham Alexander (Burnley), Gary Caldwell (Celtic), Christian Dailly (West Ham Utd), Alan Hutton (Rangers), Jay McEveley (Derby County), Stephen McManus (Celtic), Gary Naysmith (Sheffield United) and David Weir (Rangers).
Midfielders: Scott Brown (Celtic), Barry Ferguson (Rangers), Paul Hartley (Celtic), Lee McCulloch (Rangers), Stephen Pearson (Derby County), Barry Robson (Dundee United) and Gary Teale (Derby County).
Forwards: Craig Beattie (West Brom), Kris Boyd (Rangers), James McFadden (Everton), Shaun Maloney (Aston Villa), Kenny Miller (Derby County), Garry O'Connor (Birmingham City).

No two people will agree on the squad so if that's all you're bothered about then I don't think that's too bad. I'm quite impressed by the fact there are nine EPL players in the squad and most of them playing fairly regularly, albeit a few of them with Derby, one of the bottom clubs. What a difference from a few years ago. Like you, I'm surprised to see Daily back in the squad as I thought his Scotland days might finally be over. Brings up the old question... is he getting many games for his club?

Yup hes out on loan, with Southampton I think.

I'll take it back if he (Daily) is playing regular then i don't mind him, he can play in a number of positions and he plays for the shirt even through the hobbit german days. Teale can f**k off though.

On current form I'd have Fletcher in ahead of Beattie and Maloney for sure. Massive games though so experience is required I guess!

Don't mind Dailly, think he's a brilliant player. Gutted Fletcher is out though he'll be a huge miss.
