Have any bouncers been to the above venue for a gig before?
I'm off thru there tonight, just wondered if anyone could advise if its easy to park nearby, closest pub for pre-gig drink and closest club for post-gig jig?? Any verdicts on the venue acoustics would also be nice to know in advance.. Cheers  Oh and the band I'm seeing, if you're interested, is the Maccabees:

saw Primal Scream through there last year, cracking wee venue and decent bar prices with it being a students union.
not sure about parking but I think we went boozing at the west end / ashton lane before the gig then a swift taxi back to the station after. maybe just grab a look at the List to see what midweek clubs are on.

Excellent venue, great sound. I've seen Jazz, Drum & Bass, Metal & Punk bands there and they've all sounded great.
I'd surprised is you could get parked closeby. Just get a train or a bus then a Joe Baxie.

IF theres something on, then chances are you'll struggle to get parked so would take the advice already mentioned of trains, taxis etc.
Other than that the bars in there are great price wise etc, and before it theres Ashton Lane which is two seconds away. Afterwards in terms of clubs, theres Viper which is on Great Western Road, should have a night tonight. Or you could try at Oran Mor who might have a club night tonight. Other than that, I would avoid the cetnre of town as it will be heaving tonight, especially if Celtic get any kind of result, and even if they dont! |

its no a bad venue, wide and doesnt go back very far at all so everybody feels included in whats goin on - ye cannae really stand about at the back. The bar is cheap as well. Dont think too much of the pubs on byers road/ashton lane though. I saw a pub there recently called "Bar Gallus" which sort of sums it up.

 Sounds like the train thru for us tonight then... Good to hear about the bar prices and acoustics though Forgot about the great unwashed being out n about as well... Maybe the post-gig jig would be better performed under the glow of me very own castle, here in the burgh of Edin  Cav it is then  :YAYYY: cheers
