How Do Bouncers Rate Brown as PM?

Putting aside his contempt for Salmond his photo opp with Thatch and his Gazza favourite goal what's the feeling of our Scottish UK PM?

Particularly interested in ColR who appeared very anti Brown in the past?

Would he be unable to speak if his hands were tied behind his back? He's obviously been to the same body language school as Blair. Only a matter time till he prefaces every sentence with "look".

And judging by the past 24 hours, same spin school as Blair too.

I think Brown has to go for it but he mist have concerns over Scotland and turnout particularly dark evenings..

Any reason why we never have weekend elections that would surely drive up turnout?
What, the bit where he stood there in Iraq and said 1000 troops would be home before christmas knowing full well that the soldiers already there would take the inference that out of those currently serving 1000 would be going home when in fact what he meant was that some of them [up to 500 I believe] have already gone home and the other 500 are sitting in Germany and wont even be posted to Iraq in the first place. Thats not spin thats outright fukking lies and I hope Brown loses any election heavily at least partly because of this. How can you trust someone who will openly ram it right up the people who are supposed to be defending democracy.

His defence minister was squirming like fekk on Newsnight last night under the beady glare of Jeremy

Re: How Do Bouncers Rate Brown as PM?

Never mind about rating him he could be in the twilight of his premiership before it has really began. He has deservedly had a bad 24 hours, has allowed the will he or won't he call an election to become the over-riding issue to the extent that if he does not go to the country he will be perceived as week. (In my view this should never have happened. Labour has a mandate through the election of its MP's.)

He is not a shoe in to win an election. He could yet go down as the shortest serving PM in living memory. Quite astonishing given he waited so long for his chance.

Sums up my feelings. IF he wanted to call an election he should have done so on the first day of the Labour Party conference.

He's now actually managing to present himself as more calculating than his predecessor...

I am very surprised by the goings on Kenny as to my mind he is not a gambler yet that is exactly what he is doing. Very, very strange. There was simply no need. He has all the mandate he needs. The only other possibility for me is that he believes that events will derail him? is it the case that perhaps the Treasury or Bank of England are providing commentary that worries him.

I would not put any money on him winning an election.

I do think he'd win, but he'd probably IMO end up with a smaller majority than he's currently got so yo've got to think 'what's the point?'.

As you say he's no gambler but if he doesn't go now he's going to look pretty stupid...

Begs the question why did he allow this to happen? It's his team who have been briefing on this. He should have called off his dogs of war.

I'm happy with the start GB has made. I think he has the potential to be a truly great Prime Minister and that if he wins the next General Election, whenever that might be, he will lead the country extremely well.

I think he has a good mix of old-fashioned values and new-age ethics and fully understands the way in which these are integrated into a modern society. I think spin will be less under him than Blair but it won't go away completely; that is as much to do with the state of things overall than a mark on him personally though.

As long as he listens to the people more than his predecessor I think he should do ok.

I also think people are willing to give him a chance, and that is why the polls are showing such leads.

If he calls an election, fine, if he doesn't, fine as well. It's how he is doing as Prime Minister that I'm interested in.
